This is a very vulnerable collection of poems。 Some were absolutely breathtaking and beautiful, while others were kind of annoying due to the formatting or length。 It was a nice poetry book all in all。

The Princess Saves Herself In This One— by Amanda Lovelace❝How can someone be too young to be in love when we were crafted from ocean waves and starlight?❞❝Silence has always been my loudest scream。❞❝My soul knew yours before we ever met。❞❝He is the map that guides me home each time I find myself lost。❞

Phenomenal! I don’t normally read poetry but this collection tells a beautiful story that is so relatable and eloquently told。

I thought there's nothing worse than Rupi's poetry。 I guess I was wrong。 This is much much worse。This would be good as some sort of diary, but as poetry book。。。? Not at all! It doesn't sound like poetry at all, just like quotes with random clicked "enter" and "spaces"。 I thought there's nothing worse than Rupi's poetry。 I guess I was wrong。 This is much much worse。This would be good as some sort of diary, but as poetry book。。。? This bookmad poetess is talented, strong and has a beautiful soul which I felt while devouring this read。 Reading it made me feel like I had come across a naked soul showing me its scars, soaked tears, anger, grief and everything in between。 For the first half of the book, I really felt sorry。 But as it was approaching its end, I quite liked a handful of poe-, no, emo insta or tumbler quotes。 However if I'm to give an overall picture, after trying a couple of her works, her style of poetry simpl This bookmad poetess is talented, strong and has a beautiful soul which I felt while devouring this read。 Reading it made me feel like I had come across a naked soul showing me its scars, soaked tears, anger, grief and everything in between。 For the first half of the book, I really felt sorry。 But as it was approaching its end, I quite liked a handful of poe-, no, emo insta or tumbler quotes。 However if I'm to give an overall picture, after trying a couple of her works, her style of poetry simply isn't my cup of tea。 I couldn't bring myself to love them。 I had high hopes for this poetry collection which unfortunately just crashed。 You are welcome to call me old school, old soul, whatever。 If this is what you call modern era poetry。 I will be more than happy to say NO to them。 Nonetheless I wish her love and power。 。。。more

Some of the poems in this book were really moving and resonated so deeply with me that they brought me to tears, others not so much。 I really liked the themes that Lovelace explored, and some of the empowering messages within some of the poetry。 However, I have a dislike for the formatting popular poetry seems to be taking currently, with no thought for the structure or style of the poetry other than random spaces between words (there may be more behind the process than that but it doesn't come Some of the poems in this book were really moving and resonated so deeply with me that they brought me to tears, others not so much。 I really liked the themes that Lovelace explored, and some of the empowering messages within some of the poetry。 However, I have a dislike for the formatting popular poetry seems to be taking currently, with no thought for the structure or style of the poetry other than random spaces between words (there may be more behind the process than that but it doesn't come across that way)。 Three stars as I enjoyed some of the poetry in this book, but I don't think I will pick it up again any time soon。 。。。more

This volume (unsurprisingly) is less organized and tight than her later books。 However, each time she started to lose me she managed to switch gears and reel me back in。

while reading this i felt so much and although i didn’t 100% love every single poem in this book i loved this book so much。 i think the point of poetry is that it is art so it is subjective。 i’m not sure but i loved this book and if you are looking for a book that will make you laugh and cry and is written in a unique way definitely read this。

Slay DragonsI love how Amanda lets her reader feel strong for realizing their pain not just shedding it。 If you throw all of that pain in the fire and heal within a day, go you! If you barely pull yourself out of the fire, smile at yourself and managed to comfortably survive, you go too! Thank you Amanda。

I wouldn't consider this poetry but I love it nonetheless。 It's basically better Rupi Kaur。 I wouldn't consider this poetry but I love it nonetheless。 It's basically better Rupi Kaur。 。。。more

Concrete poetry isn’t usually my jam, but I was impressed by pg。 87! (Spoiler: it really hit me that the ribbons are twining backward。)There are some great poems in here, along with a lot of mediocre ones。 The line breaks were excessive。 It feels modern and is easy to read。

This book made me cry first, which is something that happens very rare in a book and you can also relate to it。Some people can relate to one part, others to another and some to the whole book。I relate to the last part, named:''You''。It just describes me and my fears and my lack of want to have children when i grow up。But to anyone reading this amazing book,i hope that you understand that you don't need to wait for the prince on white horse,so he can kill youe demons。NO。You can be your own savior an This book made me cry first, which is something that happens very rare in a book and you can also relate to it。Some people can relate to one part, others to another and some to the whole book。I relate to the last part, named:''You''。It just describes me and my fears and my lack of want to have children when i grow up。But to anyone reading this amazing book,i hope that you understand that you don't need to wait for the prince on white horse,so he can kill youe demons。NO。You can be your own savior and i know it sounds very easy and it's not,but if it was going to be fair and life is nowhere close to fair。But as people say :''There is no light withouth the darkness''。 。。。more

I thought it was nice how she tackled different topics, while using beautiful metaphors to stay in line with the main theme of fairytales! There are always some poems hitting harder than others, and sometimes also poems not making any sense, but this latter wasn't the case for me in this collection。 I thought it was nice how she tackled different topics, while using beautiful metaphors to stay in line with the main theme of fairytales! This was basically a DNF。 I skimmed the pages hoping for a poem that wasn't the same thing being repeated over and over with just slightly different wording。 This was basically a DNF。 I skimmed the pages hoping for a poem that wasn't the same thing being repeated over and over with just slightly different wording。 。。。more

tw: abuse, suicide, eating disorder, death of a loved one, violence i find it wrong to admit i mostly didn't like this poetry collection, because i can see the poet expressed herself and her journey with these poems, so a better wording would be that i didn't resonate with the majority of the poems。 i know that any piece of writing, especially a poem, begins with the writer and ends at the side of the reader so, yes, i myself didn't like most of the poems。 ( at the beginning i thought i wouldn't tw: abuse, suicide, eating disorder, death of a loved one, violence i find it wrong to admit i mostly didn't like this poetry collection, because i can see the poet expressed herself and her journey with these poems, so a better wording would be that i didn't resonate with the majority of the poems。 i know that any piece of writing, especially a poem, begins with the writer and ends at the side of the reader so, yes, i myself didn't like most of the poems。 ( at the beginning i thought i wouldn't like any, but afterwards there were some i did like ) a little note that shitting on poetry just because of the format is really immature!! i didn't have any problem with the format because well, poets can write their poems in any way they want to and we can ofc choose to like it or not but yeah。 i recommend this poetry collection if you want to read about loss, love, grief and women empowerment! 。。。more

I honestly think it’s a pretty good poetry book。 Tbh kinda generic writings at times and I wish she included deeper connection especially with the ED poems。 Other than that I think the CHARACTER development she portrays herself throughout each section and poem is beautiful

I was never into poetry and probably wouldn’t of even picked up this book if it wasn’t gifted to me。 I do not regret reading this, I feel like this book can connect with a lot of people on many factors in life。 The only reason why I rate it 2/5 is because I’m still not the biggest fan of poetry, but my book preference does seem to be shifting。

"what are yougoing to do with yourenglish degree?"。。。"i don't know。"-& it's okay not to know。 The most relatable thing for me right now。 I'm making my way through all of Amanda Lovelace's works。 I really enjoyed this one, though there were a few poems toward the end that felt a little bit out of place, but I think this collection was really good。 And despite what I've seen people saying, I enjoy her style of writing。 I think there is something simple about her writing that makes a lot of her "what are yougoing to do with yourenglish degree?"。。。"i don't know。"-& it's okay not to know。 The most relatable thing for me right now。 I'm making my way through all of Amanda Lovelace's works。 I really enjoyed this one, though there were a few poems toward the end that felt a little bit out of place, but I think this collection was really good。 And despite what I've seen people saying, I enjoy her style of writing。 I think there is something simple about her writing that makes a lot of her poems very relatable and I love that the title comes at the end。 I'm excited to keep reading her works。 。。。more
